A large two-bedroom apartment, this property lies within a building constructed in the 2000s behind a historic facade close to the Houses of Parliament in London’s Westminster.
Our client–who had previously worked with Bua principal Mark Smyth on their country home in Henley–enlisted our help to envision cost-effective solutions to transform the apartment into a contemporary pied-à-terre.
The apartment’s existing deep floor plan combines with low false ceilings and small rooms to give the sense of a rather dark and confined interior. To rectify this, our proposal looks to remove not only the false ceilings, but also many of the internal partitions in order to create a more expansive and light-filled open-plan space. The redesigned apartment will feature glazed pocket doors, a fresh colour palette and exposed concrete columns.
